Hole in My Life is an autobiographical book by author Jack Gantos. In the narrative, Gantos leads the reader through his arrest and fifteen months in prison following a drug bust in which Gantos was convicted of smuggling 2,000 pounds of hashish from St. Croix to New York in the early 1970s. Jack Gantos is now a prolific, award-winning author of children's novels. In this lesson, students are introduced to the book, and they will research and discuss the career of author Jack Gantos.
