Objective

Author - Nick Hornby:

As introduction to the study of High Fidelity, we will begin by examining the novel's author, Nick Hornby. Today's class will establish the purpose of learning about authors, research the author's other works and history, and prepare group presentations on the information which relates to High Fidelity.

Lesson

1) Class Discussion: Introduce the novel to the class and discuss why information regarding an author can help readers better understanding the work. Reasons for the study of writers include determining in what time period they are writing, gaining a grasp of their principal subject matter, establishing what style(s) the author is known for, etc.
