Objective

The objective of this lesson is to examine why Brandon does not believe he is a bully, and what the author communicates about bullies. Brandon punched a kid in the face and was suspended. Brandon's father tells him he is a bully. Brandon disagrees.

Class Discussion: Why is Brandon suspended from school? What did Brandon do? Why does Brandon think he was protecting another student? What does Brandon say when his father asks him if he can go around punching people he does not like? Why does Brandon believe that his actions were justified when he punched Stuart? Why does he think he should not have been suspended? Why does Brandon think his father is wrong to call him a bully? Why is Stuart the bully--not Brandon? Why does Brandon not think he is a bully? What is communicated about bullying?
