Forward the Foundation is a 1993 novel written by the acclaimed science fiction author, Isaac Asimov. The novel is the second prequel to Asimov's Foundation Series, which includes seven volumes, the first of which were published in the early 1950s. Forward the Foundation focuses on the life and works of Hari Seldon, and is a continuation of Prelude to Foundation. In this lesson, students are introduced to the novel, and will research and discuss the author and the Foundation Series.

1) Teacher Lecture: Introduce the students to the book and author. Forward the Foundation is the second prequel to Isaac Asimov's Foundation Series, and the last novel completed. Isaac Asimov, best known for his hard science fiction works, was one of the most prolific authors of his generation, writing and editing over 500 books in his lifetime.
