Lesson 1 (from Part I (Pages 1 - 53))

Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to analyze the narrator's reaction to finding out that Felix, her boyfriend, is posting conspiracy theories online and that his postings are very popular. The narrator is shocked at this discovery because Felix has kept this significant part of his life completely hidden from her, and because she knows he does not believe the theories himself. Instead of confronting Felix or breaking up with him right away, the narrator feels mostly a sense of relief because she knows she will break up with him soon. Nonetheless, she keeps her discovery secret for a number of weeks, and never does get the chance to confront him.
