There are several different instances of foreshadowing in Eragon.

Eragon sees the slavery going on in Dras-Leona and it makes him angry enough to fight. Despite this when he is surrounded by the slavers Eragon tells Saphira to show mercy to them. Is Eragon wrong to tell her to let them escape if they try? Why is Eragon determined to show compassion to these men? What does it say about Eragon that he has retained his compassion despite his loss?
