Objective

Objective: Forward, Preface and Chapter 1 The students will be able to define and provide examples of the genre of writing of autobiography.

1) Possible Activities:

* Provide the definition of a autobiography (a story written by the person to whom the events occurred from their specific point of view). Ask the students to brainstorm why an author would choose to use this type of writing genre.
* Hold a class discussion as to the definition of autobiography and what current possible scientific advances might an author write an autobiography about to 'warn' society about potential negative outcomes. (i.e., cloning)
* Hold a debate as to the effectiveness of an autobiography at pointing out the negative characteristics of specific societal events. Divide the class in half and have them research and support their side of the debate, whether or not that is their own personal opinion.
