Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to research the author Camille DeAngelis. Students will examine how DeAngelis' life might be reflected in the story. Students will examine how their knowledge of DeAngelis' background might affect how they read the story.

Camille DeAngelis has written several other Young Adult fiction novels. She is a classically trained writer whose previous novels usually have an attention-grabbing premise upon which the depth of the characters is built around. Most notably, in regard to Bones and All, Deangelis is a vegan. The book does not discuss veganism or diet directly in any way, but it is clear that Bones and All is not just a captivating story, but also a clever allegory for the morality of eating another living creature.
