Objective

The objective of this lesson is to examine bullying and how Brooke is bullied in "Half a Moon." Brooke is different from the other campers. They exclude her and make fun of her.

Class Discussion: How is Brooke different from the other girls? How are the other girls jealous of her? How do they take out their jealousy by bullying Brooke? How is Brooke excluded from Mercy's clique? How do Mercy and the other girls mock Brooke when she says she is not afraid of the Oak Creek Monster? How do they make fun of her weight with their comments? How does the bullying stop when the girls think Brooke defeated the Oak Creek Monster? What is revealed about bullying in "Half a Moon"?
