Dramatic Reading Contest

Have students read aloud the argument June and Bernard have in Jeremy's imagination. When they come to the end of it, they are to continue the argument by ad-libbing it. A few pairs of students will do this and the best will be voted for.

Poem

Write a poem describing June's encounter with the two dogs.

Creative Writing

Write a 4-5 paragraph short story having Bernard be the one who encounters the two dogs on the path.

Memoir

Interview an older person. It could be a family member, a friend's grandparent, or someone in a nursing home. Select a key moment in that person's life and write a brief memoir based on it.

Choose a scene from the story and illustrate it.

Comic

Make a small comic book illustrating one of June and Bernard's arguments about life.
