Objective
The author of "Between the Acts", Virginia Woolf, is a highly-regarded and respected author of 20th century literature. A number of her novels are considered classics, including "Mrs Dalloway" and "To The Lighthouse." This lesson discusses the author of "Between the Acts", Virginia Woolf.
Lesson
1) Library research: Have the students research the author, Virginia Woolf. Explore the other works she has written, as well as her background. Take a look at biographical information and critiques of Woolf's work to gain information on her writing and where "Between the Acts" fits in with her other work.
2) Presentation: Have students get into pairs and prepare a presentation, using their research on Woolf and her canon. Have each group read an excerpt from a novel, short story or non-fiction work written by Woolf during their presentation. At the end of the presentations, have students compare the tone and style...
