Objective
The objective of this lesson is to examine Maralyn and Maurice's attraction to one another and what is conveyed about the idea that opposites attract in romantic relationships. People who are very different from one another are often attracted to each other. They complement and balance each other.

Class Discussion: How did Maralyn and Maurice meet? What instantly attracted Maurice to Maralyn? What did Maralyn like about Maurice? How would you describe their personalities? In what ways did they seem very different people? How did they complement one another? What did they have in common? What were they both looking for in life? What is conveyed about the idea that opposites attract in romantic relationships through their attraction to one another?
Activity: Divide the students into small groups. Have each group analyze the impact of Elmhirst's choices of how to present Maralyn and Maurice's attraction...
