P:  The similitude of the life of the world is only as water which We send down from the sky, then the earth’s growth of that which men and cattle eat mingleth with it till, when the earth hath taken on her ornaments and is embellished, and her people deem that they are masters of her, Our commandment cometh by night or by day and We make it as reaped corn as if it had not flourished yesterday.  Thus do we expound the revelations for people who reflect.

S:  The likeness of this world’s life is only as water which We send down from the cloud, then the herbage of the earth of which men and cattle eat grows luxuriantly thereby, until when the earth puts on its golden raiment and it becomes garnished, and its people think that they have power over it, Our command comes to it, by night or by day, so We render it as reaped seed; produce, as though it had not been in existence yesterday; thus do We make clear the communications for a people who reflect.

010.025 Y:  But Allah doth call to the Home of Peace:  He doth guide whom He pleaseth to a way that is straight.

P:  And Allah summoneth to the abode of peace, and leadeth whom He will to a straight path.

S:  And Allah invites to the abode of peace and guides whom He pleases into the right path.

010.026 Y:  To those who do right is a goodly (reward)- Yea, more (than in measure)!  No darkness nor shame shall cover their faces! they are companions of the garden; they will abide therein (for aye)!

P:  For those who do good is the best (reward) and more (thereto).  Neither dust nor ignominy cometh near their faces.  Such are rightful owners of the Garden; they will abide therein.

S:  For those who do good is good (reward) and more (than this); and blackness or ignominy shall not cover their faces; these are the dwellers of the garden; in it they shall abide.

010.027 Y:  But those who have earned evil will have a reward of like evil:  ignominy will cover their (faces):  No defender will they have from (the wrath of) Allah:  Their faces will be covered, as it were, with pieces from the depth of the darkness of night:  they are companions of the Fire:  they will abide therein (for aye)!

P:  And those who earn ill-deeds, (for them) requital of each ill-deed by the like thereof; and ignominy overtaketh them — They have no protector from Allah — as if their faces had been covered with a cloak of darkest night.  Such are rightful owners of the Fire; they will abide therein.

S:  And (as for) those who have earned evil, the punishment of an evil is the like of it, and abasement shall come upon them— they shall have none to protect them from Allah— as if their faces had been covered with slices of the dense darkness of night; these are the inmates of the fire; in it they shall abide.

010.028 Y:  One day shall We gather them all together.  Then shall We say to those who joined gods (with Us):  “To your place! ye and those ye joined as ’partners’.”  We shall separate them, and their ‘Partners’ shall say:  “It was not us that ye worshipped!”
