P:  They ask thee of the (destined) Hour, when will it come to port.  Say:  Knowledge thereof is with my Lord only.  He alone will manifest it at its proper time.  It is heavy in the heavens and the earth.  It cometh not to you save unawares.  They question thee as if thou couldst be well informed thereof.  Say:  Knowledge thereof is with Allah only, but most of mankind know not.

S:  They ask you about the hour, when will be its taking place?  Say:  The knowledge of it is only with my Lord; none but He shall manifest it at its time; it will be momentous in the heavens and the earth; it will not come on you but of a sudden.  They ask you as if you were solicitous about it.  Say:  Its knowledge is only with Allah, but most people do not know.

007.188 Y:  Say:  “I have no power over any good or harm to myself except as Allah willeth.  If I had knowledge of the unseen, I should have multiplied all good, and no evil should have touched me:  I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings to those who have faith.”

P:  Say:  For myself I have no power to benefit, nor power to hurt, save that which Allah willeth.  Had I knowledge of the Unseen, I should have abundance of wealth, and adversity would not touch me.  I am but a warner, and a bearer of good tidings unto folk who believe.

S:  Say:  I do not control any benefit or harm for my own soul except as Allah please; and had I known the unseen I would have had much of good and no evil would have touched me; I am nothing but a warner and the giver of good news to a people who believe.

007.189 Y:  It is He Who created you from a single person, and made his mate of like nature, in order that he might dwell with her (in love).  When they are united, she bears a light burden and carries it about (unnoticed).  When she grows heavy, they both pray to Allah their Lord, (saying):  “If Thou givest us a goodly child, we vow we shall (ever) be grateful.”

P:  He it is Who did create you from a single soul, and therefrom did make his mate that he might take rest in her.  And when he covered her she bore a light burden, and she passed (unnoticed) with it, but when it became heavy they cried unto Allah, their Lord, saying:  If thou givest unto us aright we shall be of the thankful.

S:  He it is Who created you from a single being, and of the same (kind) did He make his mate, that he might incline to her; so when he covers her she bears a light burden, then moves about with it; but when it grows heavy, they both call upon Allah, their Lord:  If Thou givest us a good one, we shall certainly be of the grateful ones.

007.190 Y:  But when He giveth them a goodly child, they ascribe to others a share in the gift they have received:  but Allah is Exalted high above the partners they ascribe to Him.

P:  But when He gave unto them aright, they ascribed unto Him partners in respect of that which He had given them.  High is He Exalted above all that they associate (with Him).
