005.016 Y:  Wherewith Allah guideth all who seek His good pleasure to ways of peace and safety, and leadeth them out of darkness, by His will, unto the light,- guideth them to a path that is straight.

P:  Whereby Allah guideth him who seeketh His good pleasure unto paths of peace.  He bringeth them out of darkness unto light by His decree, and guideth them unto a straight path.

S:  With it Allah guides him who will follow His pleasure into the ways of safety and brings them out of utter darkness into light by His will and guides them to the right path.

005.017 Y:  In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary.  Say:  “Who then hath the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all every — one that is on the earth?  For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between.  He createth what He pleaseth.  For Allah hath power over all things.”

P:  They indeed have disbelieved who say:  Lo!  Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary.  Say:  Who then can do aught against Allah, if He had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth?  Allah’s is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them.  He createth what He will.  And Allah is Able to do all things.

S:  Certainly they disbelieve who say:  Surely, Allah— He is the Messiah, son of Marium.  Say:  Who then could control anything as against Allah when He wished to destroy the Messiah son of Marium and his mother and all those on the earth?  And Allah’s is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them; He creates what He pleases; and Allah has power over all things,

005.018 Y:  (Both) the Jews and the Christians say:  “We are sons of Allah, and his beloved.”  Say:  “Why then doth He punish you for your sins?  Nay, ye are but men,- of the men he hath created:  He forgiveth whom He pleaseth, and He punisheth whom He pleaseth:  and to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between:  and unto Him is the final goal (of all)”

P:  The Jews and Christians say:  We are sons of Allah and His loved ones.  Say:  Why then doth He chastise you for your sins?  Nay, ye are but mortals of His creating.  He forgiveth whom He will, and chastiseth whom He will.  Allah’s is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and unto Him is the journeying.

S:  And the Jews and the Christians say:  We are the sons of Allah and His beloved ones.  Say:  Why does He then chastise you for your faults?  Nay, you are mortals from among those whom He has created, He forgives whom He pleases and chastises whom He pleases; and Allah’s is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and to Him is the eventual coming.

005.019 Y:  O People of the Book!  Now hath come unto you, making (things) clear unto you, Our Messenger, after the break in (the series of) our messengers, lest ye should say:  “There came unto us no bringer of glad tidings and no warner (from evil)”:  But now hath come unto you a bringer of glad tidings and a warner (from evil).  And Allah hath power over all things.
