S:  And who has a better religion than he who submits himself entirely to Allah?  And he is the doer of good (to others) and follows the faith of Ibrahim, the upright one, and Allah took Ibrahim as a friend.

004.126 Y:  But to Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth:  And He it is that Encompasseth all things.

P:  Unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth.  Allah ever surroundeth all things.

S:  And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah’s; and Allah encompasses all things.

004.127 Y:  They ask thy instruction concerning the women say:  Allah doth instruct you about them:  And (remember) what hath been rehearsed unto you in the Book, concerning the orphans of women to whom ye give not the portions prescribed, and yet whom ye desire to marry, as also concerning the children who are weak and oppressed:  that ye stand firm for justice to orphans.  There is not a good deed which ye do, but Allah is well-acquainted therewith.

P:  They consult thee concerning women.  Say:  Allah giveth you decree concerning them, and the Scripture which hath been recited unto you (giveth decree), concerning female orphans and those unto whom ye give not that which is ordained for them though ye desire to marry them, and (concerning) the weak among children, and that ye should deal justly with orphans.  Whatever good ye do, lo!  Allah is ever Aware of it.

S:  And they ask you a decision about women.  Say:  Allah makes known to you His decision concerning them, and that which is recited to you in the Book concerning female orphans whom you do not give what is appointed for them while you desire to marry them, and concerning the weak among children, and that you should deal towards orphans with equity; and whatever good you do, Allah surely knows it.

004.128 Y:  If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband’s part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves; and such settlement is best; even though men’s souls are swayed by greed.  But if ye do good and practise self-restraint, Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do.

P:  If a woman feareth ill treatment from her husband, or desertion, it is no sin for them twain if they make terms of peace between themselves.  Peace is better.  But greed hath been made present in the minds (of men).  If ye do good and keep from evil, lo!  Allah is ever Informed of what ye do.

S:  And if a woman fears ill usage or desertion on the part of her husband, there is no blame on them, if they effect a reconciliation between them, and reconciliation is better, and avarice has been made to be present in the (people’s) minds; and if you do good (to others) and guard (against evil), then surely Allah is aware of what you do.

004.129 Y:  Ye are never able to be fair and just as between women, even if it is your ardent desire:  But turn not away (from a woman) altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air).  If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
