"The Raspberry Room" is a contemporary lyric nature poem by poet and professor Karin Gottshall. Originally published in her 2007 collection Crocus, "The Raspberry Room" deals with the speaker's childhood attachment to an opening in a raspberry patch big enough to admit her. Despite the way the raspberry thorns draw the speaker's blood, inhabiting a secret place in nature creates a sanctuary where the speaker is free to imagine and play.
