Chapter 27 Summary

The next day as Sal helps Phoebe lug her suitcase home, she tells her that she likes her a lot but sometimes she feels like dumping her cholesterol-free body out the window. Because they have arrived at her house, Phoebe doesn't react much but asks her father about her mother. He replies that her mother phoned Mrs. Cadaver. Mrs. Cadaver left them a note. Norma called to say she is okay. Mrs. Cadaver is away until Monday.

Phoebe doesn't believe that her mother called Mrs. Cadaver and speculates that she must have killed her mother and chopped her up. She wants to call the police. Phoebe and her father have a huge argument, but at last, she fizzles out. He tells her that he's been calling everyone he could think of and promises to.....
