Chapter 10 Summary

Keyes goes to the Otter Creek Condominiums where Wiley's cabin is. The condominiums feature three buildings slightly slanted to get better views. Each is painted white with canary-yellow trim. The grounds feature a swimming pool and tennis courts along with chairs and umbrellas made of aluminum. He is able to see Wiley's cabin with binoculars, and as he studies it he notices it looks like it has been uninhabited and unused for some time. However, he notices a pair of boots under the outhouse. Keyes begins to look for a boat to get him to the little island.

Garcia's supervisor, Hal Keefe, calls him into his office to lecture him for telling the newspapers that the case relating to the murder of Sparky Harper is still under investigation. They argue about it and then.....
