Chapter 37 Summary

Tante Sophie goes to him, consoles him and tells him that Pieter's mother sends her love. He hands her a parcel in which is a thick black book. In it, he tells her, he has written down everything. It is for Nella to read, and if she wishes, for his mother and Tante Sophie as well. Kappie offers to sleep in Pieter's house that night, something that Sophie had planned to do herself.
