Chapters 15-17 Summary

In chapter 15, Jeeter convinces Sister Bessie and Dude to drive him and a load of wood into Augusta to sell. Dude and Jeeter load the car with wood, nearly wrecking it when they hit an old stump, leaving only enough space for three people to sit comfortably. Ada becomes angry that they are leaving her behind. As they approach Augusta, the car begins to go really slow up a hill. Finally the car stops. Jeeter and Sister Bessie get help at a local gas station where they learn that they blew a bearing because they never put oil in the car. The man puts oil in the car and it starts again, but the man says it will never work the same again.
