Summary

Chapter 3

Kate explains everything to her best friend, Charlayne. Charlayne is doubtful at first, but the two start to explore the diary. They discover that it’s actually a complex computer system that only responds to Kate. The entries are from the late 1800’s in Chicago, written by Katherine. There’s a series of code in each entry, which they figure out refers to a date in the past and one in the future. They conclude Katherine was somehow able to travel into the past and disguised the computer as a diary to make notes.

The next morning Kate sees one of the men again on the train. She tries to get off, but he robs her and takes the backpack which contains the computer. He disappears once he has the bag. The other man shows up, identifying himself as Kiernan Dunne. He...
