Tall Tales from the Mekong Delta by Kate Braverman Summary

In Tall Tales from the Mekong Delta, the protagonist, a divorced woman with a child, recently sober, and a recovering cocaine addict, meets Lenny, a Vietnam vet. The story chronicles their relationship, from their first encounter outside of her Alcoholics Anonymous meeting to his eventual departure. The story describes the relationship between the two, as Lenny becomes more and more violent and obsessive in the stories he tells, and the narrator continues to see him, despite her apparent desire to leave him. Finally, he comes to her home, telling her that he is in trouble, and asking her to leave with him. However, she refuses, because of her child and he leaves.
