Summary

In Chapter 39, “The Queen of Ceredigion,” Owen is trying to figure out how to face the coming battles. He could come to the aid of the people at Averanche but he has far fewer men than the Occitanian army that is attacking there. He is also leaving himself open if Brythonica changed sides. Anjers, the man from Occitaian who tried to bribe Owen during the first battle of this novel, arrives with news that Severn is dead. Owen compares the battle to a game of Wizr. The best way to meet a threat is by creating a counter threat. Owen decides to attack the Occitanian city of Pree. There are supply wagons running along their route, bringing food and supplies to the Occitanian army at Averanche, and Owen plans to capture those supplies to feed his own men, cutting off the food for...
