Summary

In Chapter 25, “The Ardanays,” Owen and Etayne are going to the estate where Eyric and Kathryn are staying. The plan is for Etayne to pose as Evie and to get time alone with Kathryn. Owen will try to convince Eyric to return to Ceredigion with him, promising that Severn will restore him as a duke if he gives up his quest for the throne. If that does not work, Etayne will incapacitate Kathryn, dress in Kathryn's clothes, and join them in the hope of convincing Eyric to take Owen's offer. They arrive and Etayne, disguised as Evie, gets Kathryn out of the room. Owen reveals his true identity to Eyric. Eyric outright refuses to consider returning to Ceredigion, believing that Severn will kill him on sight. He pledges that he will reward Owen if he puts aside his loyalty for Severn and joins...
