Chapter 17

Moiraine tells Thom Merrilin to accompany Nynaeve and Elayne to Tanchico, promising him that when he returns she will tell him the names of the Red sisters that gentled his nephew Owyn.

Siuan Sanche receives two letters, one saying that Mazraim Taim has escaped, the other from Moiraine, saying that Rand holds Callandor. Siuan tells Min that she now has what she needs to hold a meeting with all the sisters in Tar Valon, to tell them about Rand. They will have no choice but to support him, now that he holds Callandor.

Chapter 18

Gaul is the only Aiel who will go with Perrin to the Two Rivers. However, two Aiel women, Bain and Chiad, decide to accompany Faile. The Stone of Tear trembles as they set off for the nearby Waygate.
