The Redhats

The redhats are hats worn by the warriors of Elfhame, and they symbolize the culture and the brutality of some of the characters. Madoc and Grima Mog are the two characters who wear these hats, and they literally soak them in the blood of their enemies, which turns them red. The act is meant to allow them to take power from the people they have killed. The terms "redhats" and "redcap" apply to the people who wear them.

Jude's Clothes and Throne Room

After Cardan is turned into a snake, Jude knows she has to immediately take control as queen. The correct clothes and an appropriate throne room are symbols of her role. She assigns Taryn the task of making sure she looks the part.
