New Chicago is a near-Earth normal planet that has been colonized and recently rebelled against the Third (human) Empire. It is located in a group of systems known as the Coal Sack. The star that functions as the sun for the planet is a single, primary yellow star. New Chicago's gravity is .08 above normal for Earth while having a greater planetary density. Due to extreme seasonal variances resulting from tilt and rotation, the inhabited area is a narrow southern band of the planet which is only thirty percent land mass.
