Section 3: Chapter 6 and 7 Summary

In Chapter 6: Connecticut, New Years Day 2000, Mike returns to the diner that day out of idle curiosity. The men refuse to discuss the situation in the diner, so after they eat, they get in the van where they tell Mike the rocks are fake. They believe the man has a real safe that is better hidden, so they want to go back to Connecticut and try again. At the house, all five men search for the safe, and Mike locates it under a bed. He shoos Bigmouth away as he learns there are five wheels and finds the numbers. As he tries different combinations of 1, 11, 26, 28 and 59, Mike hears popping noises from outside.
