Summary

Chapter 8 resumes two weeks after the engagement party: Joe suddenly calls Fiona, in tears. Joe’s secretary had accused him of sexual harassment. This triggered Joe’s boss -- and also the host of the engagement party -- Kyle Morgan to fire Joe, which Joe had responded to by punching Kyle. Joe admits to Fiona that he had made out with his secretary in the early stages of his relationship with Sandrine, but that the accusations were false. On Joe’s request, Fiona calls Sandrine to inform her about the firing. However, Fiona also decides to tell her that Joe had cheated on her. Shortly after, Sandrine leaves Joe for Ace McAllister, who had grown up to become Joe’s drug dealer in New York City.
