Summary

In Chapter 12, “Traitor,” Owen has a tearful reunion with his parents and siblings. They are clearly happy to spend time with him and have never stopped loving him. Etayne joins Owen in his room later and they discuss the situation. Owen says he believes he is playing a game without understanding all the rules. Etayne tried to enter the forest where they felt the strong Fountain power, but was turned away by Roux and his men. Etayne is Fountain blessed with the ability to disguise herself as anyone else, and she reveals that she has honed her power so that she can now disguise others as well.
