Summary

In Chapter 1, when a Delta representative offered passengers on Tim Jamieson’s flight to New York cash and a hotel voucher to give up his seat to a federal agent, Tim suddenly had the urge to get off the plane and hitchhike north. He took $2,000 and a refund of his ticket in exchange for the seat.

In Chapter 2, the first man who picked Tim up told him that no one in his “right mind” (6) would want to go to New York.
