Chapters 60-68 Summary

Rolvaag, 7:55 a.m. Manuel Garza leads a group of men into the cargo hold to finish welds on the cradle that holds the meteorite. Just as the welds are completed, the ship takes a hard wave and tilts. Instantaneously, the meteorite emits an electrical charge.

Rolvaag, 8:00 a.m. Lloyd is on the bridge to apologize to Glinn and finds the crew tensely awaiting the moment they will cross into international waters and safety from Vallenar. At that moment, Glinn breaks out a bottle of champagne. However, the radar picks up a ship following them whose heading seems proof that it is Vallenar. A few minute later, a vibration shakes the ship that brings with it a momentary disruption of the electronics on the bridge.

Almirante Ramirez, 8:30 a.m. Vallenar rushes to catch up with the Rolvaag with a frightened crew.
