Sergeant Mandella, 2007-2024 A.D., Chapter 4-5 Summary
While Mandella is getting dressed, Rogers calls him over the intercom and tells him to go to Marygay's squad bay because something has gone wrong. When he arrives at squad bay three, he discovers Marygay still in her suit covered in blood. She is slashed open down the front of her body and a portion of her intestines are spilling out from the cut that gets deeper as it travels down her body. Marygay appears to still be breathing, but superficially. Mandella begins to helplessly apply pressure to the wound and treat her for shock. While waiting for the medic, Margay comes to and Mandella holds her head, assuring her that she will be okay. When Lieutenant Harmony and the other medics arrive, Mandella explains to them the suit malfunctions that had occurred previously. He can tell by their faces that the outlook for Marygay's survival is not good, and...
