Summary

In “Today, 11:40 a.m.,” Kate packs for an emergency trip with the family. She packs small bags with three days worth of clothing and supplies. This is part of a plan she and Dexter devised in the past if they felt threatened. As she plans to leave Paris, she stops and thinks about the decision she made in college to join the CIA. This thought makes her stop packing immediately and start looking for something.

In Chapter 11, the act of slicing a tomato reminded Kate of a dead man in a New York hotel that she once saw and an unknown woman who also witnessed it. Hayden told her the blood would torture her just like it did Lady MacBeth. She decided to plan a trip to Germany to visit Hayden.
