Summary

Kate is unnerved by the meeting with the woman on rue Jacob and wonders why the woman suddenly appeared. She is not sure if her appearance deals with Dexter’s past or her own. She uses speed dial to make a call from her phone.

In Chapter 7, the story flashes back to Kate’s liberty trip to the Marais. She was just getting used to the idea that she could tour a foreign city without worrying that someone wanted to kill her. She met up with Dexter and their kids for lunch and ran into Julia with her husband. Kate and Dexter arranged for a babysitter to arrive for the children at 2200, 10 p.m. By 10:30, the couples were tipsy and went out to a late dinner. Dexter was in awe of Bill and his skiing stories.
