Summary

The chapter titled as “Today, 10:54 a.m.” picks up Kate’s story in present tense. She gives the woman a guarded hug and they exchange pleasantries, but Kate is alarmed when the woman starts asking specifics about where she lives. Kate makes arrangements for her and Dexter to meet the woman for dinner at 5 p.m., but she will not give the woman her phone number. Instead, Kate asks for hers.
