Summary

In Part One, Chapter 6, after Maeve graduated college, instead of moving back into the Dutch House, she moved into an apartment in Jenkintown. Danny was a sophomore in high school and spent most of his time outside the house, playing basketball. He often accompanied Cyril to building sites as well, and loved loving about construction. When Danny was 15, however, Cyril died falling down a flight of stairs at one such site.

Danny remembers being called to the principal on the day it happened; he prayed it was not Maeve who had died. Their father's secretary called them to say Cyril had a heart attack climbing to the top floor of a building. From the school, the siblings went to the morgue to identify their father.
