Summary

Leo pulled a flask of oil from his tool belt and doused the Maenads with it. He summoned fire and set the oil on fire. He had to remind himself that the girls weren’t human—they were nature spirits who were determined to rip them apart. But the Maenads just laughed and danced through the flames. Their frenzy made them immune to the blaze. The demigods took off running. They half-ran, half-rolled down the hill. But the Maenads were still standing in the way of them and Buford. They couldn’t kill the Maenads because they would be cursed by Dionysus. Those who killed his followers went crazy or morphed into animals. There were only 20 minutes remaining before the engine blew.
