Chapter 16 Summary

Harry gets on the stand, gives his history as a police officer and describes his career right up to the Dollmaker task force. Belk questions him about the night he receives the phone call that led to Church's death. He asks Harry why he went alone, and Bosch is able to field the questions comfortably. He describes how he lent little credence to the call until he met the caller and discovers she had seen a collection of make up in the bathroom. Without time or a phone to call in for back up, he went in, announcing himself as a police officer. He describes how he found Church in bed, and after being asked not to move, Church still reaches under his pillow. As a result, Harry shoots him once, and Norman Church dies.
