Chapter Two Summary

Bosch drives to Bing's, and takes his suit jacket off before climbing into a jumpsuit. He looks into the concrete hole the jackhammers have opened. Surprised, he asks where the body is, and former partner Jerry Edgar tells him it's already in the coroner's wagon. Bosch goes over to have a look, and the coroner's investigator, Larry Sakai tells him it looks like the Dollmaker's back. Larry, having worked on some of the earlier Dollmaker cases is already convinced, but Bosch needs to have a closer look. Pretending to examine the entire corpse, he unzips the bag, looks past her now-obvious implants and down to her toes for a sign of the Dollmaker's signature. An unadvertised extra, the Dollmaker always paints the toenails pink, as well as applying makeup, and then paints a small white cross on one toe. This victim...
