Chapter 4 Summary

Carrie arrives home to find her father chasing off a punk rock boy who was hanging out with her youngest sister, Dorrit. Carrie thinks about a story she once write about a boy who falls in love with a girl only after she donates her kidney to him. She also thinks about watching Sebastian and his friends diving off a cliff into the water during the summer. Carrie fell in love with Sebastian and never really knew him. She decides that something good has to happen to her this year.

Chapter 4 Analysis

Carrie fears that she is a romantic, like her father. She fears this because romantics tend to get hurt and left without anyone. Carrie also realizes that she fell in love with Sebastian many years ago but didn't think about him again until now. There is foreshadowing that Carrie and Sebastian...
