Birmingham

Birmingham is a suburb outside of London. Susan and Edward grew up in the small town. Susan's mother lived in the same house up until the day she died. After her funeral, Susan and Edward begin to fight over the house, but neither of them wants to stay in it because it makes both of them equally miserable through all the memories of their terrible childhood that it brings up. Edward threatens to stay in it forever, though, just to get a rise out of Susan.

Worcester

Worcester is a country town outside of Birmingham. Aunt Sylvia has a massive estate in Worcester, and she encourages Susan to come out and see the place. Susan spends Christmas with Aunt Sylvia at her estate, but she is never able to relax and feel at home the way she would have had she been with her mother.
