Power

Joel Backman was once a very powerful man. As a lawyer, Backman brokered deals between companies and foreign countries and the American government. Backman was both respected and feared in Washington. Backman enjoyed his power and all the privileges it brought with it. However, with one client, Backman goes too far and the government hits back. Backman takes on a client who has discovered highly advanced satellites and is attempting to sell them to a foreign government. This sale leads to Backman finding himself, his partners, and his son under indictment for everything from unlawful possession of military documents to treason. Upon the death of an employee, Backman pleads guilty, brokering a deal that leaves his son and partners free to return to their normal lives.
