Chapter 6 Summary

We see the whole group preparing for their picnic in the park. Everybody except for Patrick is present. No one knows exactly where he is and Freda says that he went home after their scuffle at the chapel. With Brenda's help, Freda has laid out her embroidered tablecloth on the grass and has put the food out on the cloth. The men, however, are shy about sharing food and each waits, holding his own bread and salami. Finally, Freda convinces them to place their food on the tablecloth and share. Freda gives the best piece of chicken to Vittorio, wondering why he first proclaimed his love and then turned so cold towards her.

Freda suggests that they visit a wild safari park nearby. At first Rossi is unsure, but when she explains that this safari is a drive-through park and they can stay...
