Part 2: Chapters 27- 28 Summary

In Chapter 27, Knoll and Rachel make their way to Danya's home. Rachel tries to uncover information about Knoll's boss. While Knoll attempts to breakdown Rachel's emotional barriers. He asks about Paul and if she is still in love with him. Rachel quickly changes the subject and the two continue to flirt. She is oddly attracted to Knoll. Knoll apologizes for Rachel's father's death, which intrigues her more, but shows the liar and manipulator Knoll is.

Rachel and Knoll arrive in Chapter 28. Danya eagerly welcomes them inside, saying that he immediately sees Karol in Rachel's face. Danya welcomes them both in and hears of the death of his friend. He quickly (and with little reluctance) tells them about Enrich Koch, one of Hitler's provincial governors. Koch claimed to know the location of the Amber Room to keep himself alive after the war.
