Summary

Chapter 21

Jake hires Portia as an intern because she wants to become a lawyer and he needs someone to do research. Jake sees the first inventory on Seth’s estate and is happy to see it is as big as Amburgh predicted. Later, he goes to the judge to get his first paycheck and to discuss certain aspects of the case.

Chapter 22

The lawyers begin the depositions with Lettie. Before they can begin, Buckley comes in and insists that he represents Simeon, but the judge throws him out since Simeon is not directly involved in the case. The depositions proceed with the lawyers interviewing all the major players by the end of the week.
