Chapter 11 Summary

Zane and Danica go downstairs to the courtyard where the guards are holding the woman responsible for the attack. She says an avian woman approached them with the plan to attack Zane and Danica. The guards take the woman away and Zane calls from them to bring Kel. Kel confirms that the royal magic of Syfka could have compelled the six attackers to do what they did. She says she sensed the magic before but didn't have time to tell them.

Kel admits that she had been one of the guards to the Empress Cjara. Kel had discovered a secret of the empress and Kel's partner had wanted to divulge the secret. When Kel had refused to bring her partner in as a traitor, Kel had had to flee the wrath of the empress. Syfka arrives, demanding her falcon.
