Chapter 3 Summary

Rei arrives at the nest after fetching Valene to speak with Zane. Zane and Valene talk in the room next to where Danica is resting so Zane is nearby in case something happens to Danica. Zane tells Valene about Syfka asking for their help to find a criminal falcon that might be living among them.

Valene explains that the falcon law is so strict that it could be a criminal that cursed in front of the Empress rather than a more severe crime. Valene suggests Zane treat Syfka with the utmost of respect even though Syfka acts like and thinks she is superior to Zane. Valene also says he shouldn't let Syfka see Danica again because if she is pregnant with a cobra-hawk child, they don't know how Syfka will react. Betsy, Danica's doctor, arrives to examine her.
