Prologue Summary

Zane Cobriana is telling the history of his people that he now rules. He is the first to lead his people during a time of peace rather than war. His civilization began back when Egypt was a young country. At the time, two powers ruled, an evil one and a good one. The two powers were required to rule in harmony in order to keep balance. When the high priestess Maeve seduces Leben, she gets him to grant her and her people the black scales and garnet eyes of a cobra.

Those who worship the good side have been granted the wings and talons of falcons. Zane Cobriana descends from the Cobriana line, with their jet-black hair and garnet eyes, the serpiente or serpent kin of the ruler Kiesha.
